Philosophy as Vice President

Upon being elected, Radhakrishnan described his victory as one for “nationalistic ideology rooted in development and harmony.” He emphasized cooperative federalism, stressing that a strong democracy depends on a healthy relationship between the Centre and the States.

As Vice President and Chairman of the Rajya Sabha, his task will be to uphold the dignity of the Upper House, encourage constructive debates, and maintain a balance between government priorities and opposition voices.

Interestingly, the name “Radhakrishnan” also reminds India of Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, the nation’s first Vice President and later President. While the two are unrelated, both carry forward legacies of leadership—one through philosophy and education, the other through politics and governance.
